Season of Truth

Season of Truth

Discernment in a Confusing Time

In recent days, I have seen many people posting and commenting about how confusing it feels since the assassination of Charlie Kirk. Some are shaken, some are uncertain, and some are wondering what to believe. But to me, there is nothing confusing about darkness trying to snuff out the light. If we know what the Bible says, we should not be surprised when evil shows its hand.

Jesus told us plainly in John 16:33, “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation, but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” Tribulation was never going to be an if. It was always going to be a when. And if we know that, then we should also know that peace is possible, even in the darkest hour, because Jesus has already overcome.

The Season of Truth

Several years ago, I felt strongly that we were entering what I can only call a season of truth. I said then that God was raising up voices who would speak His truth no matter what. Truth that might not be popular. Truth that might sting. Truth that might expose what was hidden.

It has probably been two or three years since I first sensed that in my spirit. And from that time, I felt like I was one of those God had chosen to speak the truth, even if it hurt feelings. Because God is not about feelings. He is about truth. Feelings are temporary. Feelings change with the wind. But truth is eternal.

Hebrews 4:12 reminds us, “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Truth cuts deep, and sometimes it hurts, but its purpose is to separate light from darkness.

That is what Charlie Kirk was trying to do. He was exposing lies. He was challenging people to think, to discern, to resist deception. And that is exactly what I felt the Spirit telling me to do years ago.

No More Dabbling

I will be honest. I have dabbled in it here and there. I have spoken up at times and then pulled back at others. I have stepped into moments of truth-telling and then allowed myself to shrink away again. But the time for dabbling is over.

Ephesians 6:10–13 says, “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”

That does not sound like a call to dabble. That sounds like a call to stand. That sounds like a call to be rooted and unmovable, even when the fight gets ugly.

Discerning the Times

When Paul wrote to Timothy, he described what people would be like in the last days. In 2 Timothy 4:3–4 he said, “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears. And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”

Is that not the time we are in now? People crave comfort more than truth. They would rather be entertained than challenged. They would rather be told what they want to hear than what they need to hear. That is why discernment matters more than ever.

Discernment means holding every word, every headline, every voice, up to the Word of God. It means testing the spirit behind what is being said. It means refusing to be swayed by emotions alone. Discernment does not mean confusion. Discernment means clarity that comes from the Holy Spirit.

The Call to Action

So where does this leave us? It leaves us with a choice. We can shrink back into fear, or we can step forward into truth. We can get lost in confusion, or we can anchor ourselves in the Word. We can let darkness intimidate us, or we can remember that light always wins.

John 1:5 says, “And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.” Darkness will never overcome the light. That is not my opinion. That is the promise of God.

If God has been stirring your heart to speak truth, do it. Do it in love, but do it with boldness. If He has been calling you to prayer, get on your knees. If He has been pushing you to stand, then put on the full armor of God and take your place. The days are short. The harvest is plenty. The laborers are few.

Final Thoughts

What happened to Charlie Kirk is tragic, but it should not confuse us. It should awaken us. It should remind us that there is a real battle between light and darkness. It should remind us that truth matters more than comfort. It should remind us that if God has called us to be truth-tellers, then the time is now.

No more dabbling. No more shrinking back. No more waiting for the perfect moment. The season of truth is here, and it is on.
